In June 2022, the private transportation sector predicted that Mexico could be a HUB for the production of electric vehicles, mainly for the following reasons: the needs of the sector, since in 2024 in the United States it will be a requirement that a percentage of the sales of assemblers are zero emission vehicles, such as electric ones, and that more than 50% of the production of heavy vehicles in Mexico is exported to our neighbor to the north.
“The future has arrived and by 2030 half of the vehicles in Mexico will have to be electric. We are seven years away and we have to reach that goal,” said Marcelo Ebrard, Secretary of Foreign Relations.
